Whistleblowing
Two years ago, Home Retail Group formalised a process allowing staff
to report concerns over malpractice in a safe and controlled manner (‘whistleblowing’).
Every employee underwent training in the new process and each received
a handbook explaining how to raise any concerns.
During the last 12 months we have conducted a review of our whistleblowing
policy. This involved a survey of all employees and a survey of the senior
managers named as whistleblowing contacts in the policy to gather their
feedback. The feedback from these exercises resulted in a programme to
raise the profile of whistleblowing and our business principles. This
programme is already underway and will continue during 2007.
