Home Retail Group is committed to promoting equal opportunities for all
our employees, and to provide a working environment that is free from
all forms of discrimination and harassment. As an example, people with
disabilities have equal opportunities when applying for vacancies with
due regard to their aptitudes and abilities. We have procedures to ensure
that disabled employees are treated fairly and that their training and
career development needs are carefully managed.
In October 2006, we introduced a new retirement procedure and updated
our retirement policy to comply with the age discrimination regulations.
We already allowed many employees to work beyond their planned retirement
date and the introduction of the procedure served to formalise this process
to ensure consistency and compliance with the new regulations.
