Amlin UK generally writes 100% of each business risk. The majority of our business is sourced through brokers, although the type of broker used will vary depending on the class of business written. The spread of brokers that we use is wide, as shown in the chart below.

Experience and access

We have highly experienced and dedicated underwriting teams for each line of business, and provide flexibility of access to suit partner brokers. Our underwriters have authority to quote risks, within agreed limits, without the need for referral. Our long-standing experience and long service enables us to provide a consistent underwriting approach.

Product flexibility

Our underwriting appetite is diverse and we are able to consider unusual risks, non-conventional programmes with bespoke wordings and, in some classes, larger lines than our competitors. We can also offer cross class capabilities tailored to our clients which address many of their risk management needs. For example, in 2008 we have tailored exclusive schemes for the waste management industry and transport of hazardous chemicals.

Claims service

We recognise the importance of providing high quality claims management and we have our own in house claims and legal team, and specialist teams dealing with injury claims. Our dedicated account handlers and inspectors have authority to engage directly in settlement discussions with clients.
