1 Basis of Preparation

The achieved profits basis results have been prepared in accordance with the draft ‘Guidance on accounting in Group Accounts for proprietary companies’ long-term insurance business’ issued by the Association of British Insurers in July 1995. The information is supplementary to the financial statements.

In preparing the results, the Group has been advised by Tillinghast, consulting actuaries.
