Sixty million aircraft take-offs and landings are handled every
year by the world’s air traffic control services, over half of
these in North America. Chicago O’Hare is the world’s busiest
airport, with over 750,000 aircraft movements a year.
However, the Chinese government plans to build 96 new
airports by 2010 and to spend an additional US$13 billion
on developing airport infrastructure. Boeing predicts that
China will be the world’s second largest commercial airlines
market by 2024.
