Nycomed Amersham Imaging acquires MITI (Magnetic Imaging Technologies Inc) in Durham, North Carolina and intellectual property relating to hyperpolarisation technology. MITI was founded in 1966 by Robert Lontz, William Happer and Gordon Cates of Princeton University. This new technology, now called Spin Signal™, is being developed for MRI scanning (imaging of lung function, for example) and for life science applications.
