MegaBACE™ - the first DNA sequencer to utilise capillary technology - is launched by Molecular Dynamics using Pharmacia Biotech enzymes and dye chemistries. MegaBACE was used to sequence the first chromosome to be completely mapped during the Human Genome Project. Molecular Dynamics is also developing microarrays at this time.
