Amersham International acquires 20% of Nihon Medi-Physics Co Ltd (NMP), the leading nuclear medicine company in Japan. NMP was founded in 1973 as a joint venture between Medi-Physics Inc (USA) and Sumitomo Chemical Co Ltd of Japan. Amersham upped its stake in 1996 and now owns 50% of NMP in partnership with Sumitomo.
