Omniscan™, the first non-ionic MRI contrast medium, is registered (MRI brain scan pictured here). This is followed by the registration in 1993 of Visipaque™, a third-generation X-ray contrast medium whose isotonic formulation offers additional safety benefits, especially in high-risk procedures.
