Pharmacia Biotech acquires the Swedish company, LKB Produkter AB. LKB was founded in 1943 by Professor The Svedberg of Uppsala University. By the late 1960s, LKB had become the top name globally for laboratory equipment, a pioneer in mass spectrometry and the undisputed leader in electrophoresis.
