Kimberley Underground:

Kimberley Underground was the safest underground mine in the Northern Cape region for two consecutive years and was awarded a trophy for this achievement.

Fissure mines:

Each of the fissure mines – Helam, Sedibeng and Star – achieved 5,000 fatality free shifts during FY2010, an important safety milestone; and Sedibeng won ‘Best Improved Safety Achievement for Underground Mines in the Northern Cape Region’.

Williamson:

Two awards were bestowed upon Williamson during the National Worker Day celebration held in Dar-es-Salaam in May 2010 as follows:

Award 1: Ignas Balyorguru, Williamson HR Manager, received the best "national worker of the year award" from the Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA).

Award 2: Williamson was awarded a 'Certificate of Appreciation' in recognition of its "effort in maintaining harmony and good relationship with its employees by implementing the code of good practice as required by the Employment and Labour Relations Act No 6 of 2004 for the year 2009/2010" by Tanzania Minerals, Energy, Construction and Allied Workers Union (TAMICO).

In addition, Williamson competed in the annual "Presidential Award on Forest Management and Water Source Conservation" in the investor category and emerged as the district and regional winner.

The certificate was handed over to Williamson during a ceremony held in the Meatu district in August 2010 by Brigadier General (Rtd) Dr Yohana Balele, Regional Commissioner for the Shinyanga Region, who said: "Williamson Diamond Mine is the role model on forest management and water sources conservation. Shinyanga Region is proud of having Petra management at Williamson; they have been a great support in seedling generation and distribution in Kishapu and other nearby districts. Please, keep it up!"
